SB 4 – Sexual identity as a civil right

Includes sexual orientation and gender identity or expression as categories protected under the Elliott-Larsen civil rights act.

Excellent statement by Sen. Runestad on opposition. At a minimum, since these protections already exist under Michigan law, it’s nothing more than pandering to the extreme portion of the Democrat base. But at its worst, it could be used by Democrats to weaponize the civil rights statutes against individual and religious freedoms.

Sen. Nesbitt voted against.

Rep. Wendzel voted for. (Update: She has since been censured.)
