HB 4945/4946 – Ban firearms from people convicted of misdemeanor offenses

The bill would ban firearms for those with misdemeanor offenses involving domestic violence cases. The Democrats know this is unconstitutional. A constitutional right cannot be removed for a non-felony offense. They seek only to subvert the constitution and force the people to defend their rights expensively in drawn out court cases. Laws like this have already been overturned due to the Supreme Court Bruen decision.

These bills allow the seizure of an individual’s firearms on baseless accusations, without a hearing or other opportunity for the evidence to be heard in court. They permit the government to seize firearms based on weak and nebulous standards of evidence. Clear violations of the 2nd and 4th amendments.

SB 79/80 – Lock Up Your Safety law.

The bill creates penalties penalties for storing or leaving a firearm where it may be accessed by a minor. It is unenforceable until after an incident occurs. And there already exist statutes to handle the gun owners role in an incident with a minor. It is a law for virtue signaling but with no real effect.

SB 76/77/78 – Universal gun registration.

The bill would have criminalized private transfers of firearms by expanding Michigan’s handgun permit to purchase system to all firearms. These bills expand registration to all firearms. Criminals and mass shooters, the ones Democrats are supposedly targeting) will not obey this law any more than any other gun law so it can not be universal by any stretch of the imagination. And like all gun laws, will do nothing to reduce any crime. It is meant to produce a gun registration list Democrats can use to seize firearms.
